Oregon State University is engaged in education, research, and outreach activities around the world. To formalize international collaboration efforts, the Office of International Affairs works with colleges and departments to develop and track international agreements. Staff in the Office of International Affairs are available to assist in guiding you through the process of establishing an international agreement.
A Letter of Collaboration (LOC) is a non-binding, general agreement initiating relations with a partner institution. An LOC expresses mutual interest in engaging in cooperative academic or research efforts. This is often the first step toward developing a more concrete program. OSU uses a standard template for LOCs. Any language deviating from the template, including LOCs originating with the partner, must be reviewed by Contract Services.
If you are ready to initiate a Letter of Collaboration, please ask for a Letter of Collaboration Request Form. You will receive an email containing a link to the on-line LOC Request. Review the instructions carefully, and provide as much information as possible. Our office will work with you to ensure you provide everything we need to generate your LOC. Once you submit the completed request form, we are typically able to prepare your document within 10 business days.
