Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and Austria.
Application deadline EXTENDED: Apr. 7, 2017
Europe is a leader in sustainable building practice and natural resource management. This program offers students the opportunity to observe first-hand both the source of wood for manufacture and building, and the end products of that process in architecture and design. You’ll also encounter first hand the production and use of forest resources in the context of sustainable community development.
Within a relatively compact region, the group will visit multiple countries and be able to compare forest areas, traditional and current wood architecture, designers and producers of wood products. During this time, the group will be joined by Slovenian students who will help provide a European perspective on sustainable development. The opportunity to interact and travel with European students will be a highlight of this program.
Students will travel together staying in hostels, guest houses and lodges. You’ll have opportunities to explore European cities on your own during your free time, and gain new insights into your field of study.
Program leaders are Dr. Chris Knowles, Dr. Eric Hansen and Dr. Mariapaola Riggio. For more details about the program content, visit the OSU College of Forestry website. For more information, contact Michele Justice.
